2018 Concert Performances

The 2018 Button Accordion Championship will include concert performances by three outstanding musicians and entertainers. They are Martin Težak from Slovenia and Michael Bridge from Toronto, Canada. These exceptionally talented individuals are prime examples of a new generation of musicians leading the revival of the accordion as a cool instrument in the 21st century. Prepare to be dazzled. 


Martin Težak​
Martin Težak​, button accordion champion in Slovenian national, international and world competitions will perform in concert at the 2018 Canadian Slovenian Button Accordion Championship! For those of you who missed his concerts last time around, here is your chance to see a world class performance. In addition to his many competitive firsts and music industry accomplishments, Martin is a successful entrepreneur running not only his own media marketing company but also a multi-location music school in Slovenia. Perhaps he will invite some of his student prodigies to join him on stage for an unforgettable concert!


Michael Bridge
We are so excited to have Michael Bridge, Canadian-born, virtuoso Concert-accordionist perform for us at the 2018 Canadian Slovenian Button Accordion Championship. One of CBC’s “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30”, Michael is internationally renowned for his commanding stage-presence and versatility. He made his solo orchestral debut with the Boston Pops at 17 and tours frequently in Europe and the Americas, giving over 100 concerts per year. He received the Lieutenant Governor’s Emerging Artist medal (Alberta), and won the Canadian Digital Accordion Championships and the University of Toronto Concerto Competition, where he is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in accordion performance with Joseph Macerollo. He is a frequent guest-lecturer at universities across Canada on topics relating to the Business of Music and Composing for Accordion. Michael continually performs new music and has premiered over 30 works. He has been recorded and profiled by CBC, CTV and the Toronto Star, and is very grateful for the support of the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Sylva Gelber Foundation.
