She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Maribor in 2014 and is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education there, teaching various courses and conducting research on early mathematics education. Through her Canadian-born husband whose family also originates in Slovenia she was introduced to the Canadian Slovenian community in Toronto. She enjoys volunteering at Marija Pomagaj parish and at Slovenski Dom by teaching Slovenian language courses and leading Slovenian chit-chat evenings. In her spare time Darja also volunteers as a radio announcer for the Voice of Canadian Slovenians Toronto radio station, CHIN 100.7 FM.

Darja Antolin Dresar prihaja iz Prekmurja, in sicer iz majhne vasice Kobilje. Z velikim veseljem sodeluje v župniji Marija Pomagaj v Torontu in v društvu Slovenski Dom s poučevanjem na tečajih slovenskega jezika in vodenjem slovenskih pogovornih večerov.
